The commission referred to in article L. 6213-12 is called the Commission nationale de biologie médicale. It is attached to the Minister for Health. The Commission Nationale de Biologie Médicale is chaired by a university professor-hospital practitioner, medical biologist, appointed by order of the Minister for Health, for a renewable term of five years. A vice-chairman, a university professor-hospital practitioner, medical biologist, is appointed under the same conditions.

Substitutes, equal in number to the full members, except for the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman and the members mentioned in article R. 6213-17, are appointed under the same conditions as the full members. They only sit on the committee in the absence of the full member.
