Article 1993 of the French Civil Code

Every agent is bound to render an account of his management, and to account to the principal for all that he has received by virtue of his power of attorney, even if what he would have received had not been due to the principal.

Tout mandataire est tenu de rendre compte de sa gestion, et de faire raison au mandant de tout ce qu’il a reçu en vertu de sa procuration, quand même ce qu’il aurait reçu n’eût point été dû au mandant.
