Any invention may be the subject of an industrial property title issued by the Director of the National Institute of Industrial Property which confers on its holder or his successors in title an exclusive right of exploitation.
The issue of the title gives rise to the legal dissemination provided for in Article L. 612-21.
Subject to the provisions of international conventions to which France is a party, foreign nationals whose domicile or establishment is located outside the territory where this Title is applicable enjoy the benefit of this Title, provided that French nationals enjoy reciprocal protection in the countries of which the said foreign nationals are nationals.
Unless otherwise stipulated in an international commitment to which France is a party, the provisions of this Article shall apply to inventions made or used in outer space including on celestial bodies or in or on space objects placed under national jurisdiction pursuant to Article VIII of the Treaty of 27 January 1967 on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies.
