Article L622-1 of the French Consumer Code

Where several identified consumers have suffered individual losses which have been caused by the act of the same professional, and which have a common origin, any approved association recognised as representative at national level pursuant to article L. 811-1 may, if it has been mandated by at least two of the consumers concerned, bring an action for damages before any court on behalf of those consumers.

Lorsque plusieurs consommateurs identifiés ont subi des préjudices individuels qui ont été causés par le fait d’un même professionnel, et qui ont une origine commune, toute association agréée et reconnue représentative sur le plan national en application de l’article L. 811-1 peut, si elle a été mandatée par au moins deux des consommateurs concernés, agir en réparation devant toute juridiction au nom de ces consommateurs.
