Production of the medical certificate referred to in article L. 231-2-3 for the disciplines listed in article D. 231-1-5 is subject to a medical examination carried out by any medical doctor with specific skills, where applicable, in accordance with the recommendations of the French Society of Exercise and Sports Medicine.
This medical examination has the following characteristics:
1° For mountaineering above an altitude of 2,500 metres:
– particular attention is paid to the cardiovascular examination ;
– the presence of antecedents or risk factors for pathologies linked to altitude hypoxia justifies a specialist or mountain medicine consultation;
2° For underwater diving, particular attention is paid to the ENT examination (eardrums, balance/tubal permeability, vestibular assessment, hearing acuity) and the dental examination;
3° For speleology, particular attention is paid to the examination of the cardio-respiratory system and for underground diving, to the ENT examination (eardrums, balance/tubal permeability, vestibular evaluation, hearing acuity) and the dental examination;
4° For sports disciplines, practised in competition, for which the fight may come to an end, notably or exclusively when, following a blow, one of the opponents is in a state rendering him/her incapable of defending him/herself and which may go as far as unconsciousness, particular attention is paid to :
– neurological and mental health examination ;
– the ophthalmological examination: visual acuity, visual field, eye tone and eye fundus (measurement of eye tone and eye fundus are not required for sambo combat, grappling fight and contact karate);
For English boxing :
– the ophthalmological examination mentioned above is carried out once a year for professional boxers and every two years for amateur boxers;
– particular attention is paid to the cardiovascular examination;
– a remnography of the cervico-cephalic arteries is carried out every three years for amateur boxers from the age of 32 and for professional boxers up to the age of 32. For professional boxers, this examination is carried out every two years after the age of 32;
5° For sports involving the use of firearms or compressed air weapons, particular attention is paid to :
– the neurological and mental health examination ;
– hearing acuity and examination of the dominant upper limb for biathlon ;
– examination of the spine in minors for standing shooters in the shooting discipline;
6° For competitive sports involving the use of motorised land vehicles, particular attention is paid to :
– the neurological and mental health examination ;
– ophthalmological examination (visual acuity, visual field, colour vision);
7° For sporting disciplines involving the use of an aircraft, particular attention is paid to :
– the neurological and mental health examination ;
– ophthalmological examination (visual acuity, colour vision) ;
– ENT examination (eardrums, balance/tubal permeability, hearing acuity, vestibular assessment);
– shoulder examination for hang-gliding and parachuting enthusiasts;
– examination of the spine for pilots of class 1 ultra-light motorised gliders;
8° For rugby union and rugby sevens:
a) From the age of 12 to 39, in or out of competition, particular attention is paid to :
– cardiovascular examination ;
– spinal examination;
b) From the age of 40, in competition :
– it is supplemented by a cervical remnography every 2 years for first-row players between the ages of 40 and 44 and, from the age of 45, every year for first-row players and every 2 years for players in other positions;
– particular attention is paid to the cardiovascular examination and the monitoring of the carbohydrate-lipid biological balance;
c) From the age of 40, outside competition, particular attention is paid to :
– examination of the cervical spine ;
– a cardiovascular examination and monitoring of the carbohydrate-lipid profile;
9° For rugby union players, particular attention is paid to the orthopaedic examination of the musculoskeletal system.
