Article 1005 of the French Code of civil procedure

Where a pleading is produced by the plaintiff, the latter must, on pain of inadmissibility pronounced ex officio, notify, within one month of the declaration, a copy to the defendant by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.

Lorsqu’un mémoire est produit par le demandeur, celui-ci doit, à peine d’irrecevabilité prononcée d’office, en notifier, dans le mois de la déclaration, copie au défendeur par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception.
