Article 1013 of the French Civil Code

Where the testator has disposed of only a portion of the available portion, and has done so by universal title, such legatee shall be liable to pay the particular legacies by contribution with the natural heirs.

Lorsque le testateur n’aura disposé que d’une quotité de la portion disponible, et qu’il l’aura fait à titre universel, ce légataire sera tenu d’acquitter les legs particuliers par contribution avec les héritiers naturels.
