Article 1091 of the French Civil Code

The spouses may, by marriage contract, make to each other, or one of them to the other, such gifts as they see fit, subject to the modifications hereinafter expressed.

Les époux pourront, par contrat de mariage, se faire réciproquement, ou l’un des deux à l’autre, telle donation qu’ils jugeront à propos, sous les modifications ci-après exprimées.
