Article 1168 of the French Code of civil procedure

The application is made by petition.

If the person whose adoption is sought was taken into the applicant’s home before the age of fifteen, the applicant may make the application himself by simple petition addressed to the public prosecutor, who must forward it to the court.

La demande est formée par requête.

Si la personne dont l’adoption est demandée a été recueillie au foyer du requérant avant l’âge de quinze ans, le requérant peut former lui-même la demande par simple requête adressée au procureur de la République, qui doit la transmettre au tribunal.
