Article 1475 of the French Civil Code

After all deductions have been made from the estate, the surplus is divided equally between the spouses.

If a community property is an annex to another property owned by one of the spouses, or if it is contiguous to that property, the owner spouse has the option of having it allocated to him or her by deduction from his or her share or in return for a balance, based on the value of the property on the day the allocation is requested.

Après que tous les prélèvements ont été exécutés sur la masse, le surplus se partage par moitié entre les époux.

Si un immeuble de la communauté est l’annexe d’un autre immeuble appartenant en propre à l’un des conjoints, ou s’il est contigu à cet immeuble, le conjoint propriétaire a la faculté de se le faire attribuer par imputation sur sa part ou moyennant soulte, d’après la valeur du bien au jour où l’attribution est demandée.
