Article 1478 of the French Civil Code

After the partition has been consummated, if either spouse is a personal creditor of the other, such as where the price of his or her property has been used to pay a personal debt of his or her spouse, or for any other reason, he or she exercises his or her claim against the share that has fallen to the latter in the community or against his or her personal property.

Après le partage consommé, si l’un des deux époux est créancier personnel de l’autre, comme lorsque le prix de son bien a été employé à payer une dette personnelle de son conjoint, ou pour toute autre cause, il exerce sa créance sur la part qui est échue à celui-ci dans la communauté ou sur ses biens personnels.
