Article 1479 of the French Civil Code

Personal claims that the spouses have against each other do not give rise to a levy and bear interest only from the day of the summons.

Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, they are assessed according to the rules of article 1469, third paragraph, in the cases provided for therein; interest then accrues from the date of liquidation.

Les créances personnelles que les époux ont à exercer l’un contre l’autre ne donnent pas lieu à prélèvement et ne portent intérêt que du jour de la sommation.

Sauf convention contraire des parties, elles sont évaluées selon les règles de l’article 1469, troisième alinéa, dans les cas prévus par celui-ci ; les intérêts courent alors du jour de la liquidation.
