Article 1484 of the French Civil Code

The inventory provided for in the preceding article must be carried out in the manner prescribed by the Code of Civil Procedure, in the presence of both spouses or of the other spouse duly summoned. It must be closed within nine months of the day on which the community was dissolved, unless an extension is granted by the interim relief judge. It must be declared sincere and true before the public official who received it.

L’inventaire prévu à l’article précédent doit avoir lieu dans les formes réglées par le code de procédure civile, contradictoirement avec l’autre époux ou lui dûment appelé. Il doit être clos dans les neuf mois du jour où la communauté a été dissoute, sauf prorogation accordée par le juge des référés. Il doit être affirmé sincère et véritable devant l’officier public qui l’a reçu.
