Article 1526 of the French Civil Code

The spouses may establish by their marriage contract a universal community of their property, both movable and immovable, present and future. However, unless otherwise stipulated, the property that article 1404 declares to be proper by its nature does not fall within this community.

The universal community definitively bears all the debts of the spouses, present and future.
