Article 16-12 of the French Civil Code

Only the following are authorised to carry out DNA identifications:

1° The technical and forensic police services or organisations referred to in article 157-2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure;

2° Persons who have been approved under conditions laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat. In the context of legal proceedings, these persons must also be registered on a list of legal experts.

Article 16-12

Sont seuls habilités à procéder à des identifications par empreintes génétiques :


1° Les services ou organismes de police technique et scientifique mentionnés à l’article 157-2 du code de procédure pénale ;


2° Les personnes ayant fait l’objet d’un agrément dans des conditions fixées par décret en Conseil d’Etat. Dans le cadre d’une procédure judiciaire, ces personnes doivent, en outre, être inscrites sur une liste d’experts judiciaires.
