Article 1623 of the French Civil Code

If two pieces of land have been sold by the same contract, and for one and the same price, with a designation of the measure of each, and there is less capacity in one and more in the other, compensation is made to the extent of due proportion; and the action, either in supplement or in diminution of the price, takes place only according to the rules above established.

S’il a été vendu deux fonds par le même contrat, et pour un seul et même prix, avec désignation de la mesure de chacun, et qu’il se trouve moins de contenance en l’un et plus en l’autre, on fait compensation jusqu’à due concurrence ; et l’action, soit en supplément, soit en diminution du prix, n’a lieu que suivant les règles ci-dessus établies.
