Article 1648 of the French Civil Code

An action arising from redhibitory defects must be brought by the purchaser within two years of discovery of the defect.

In the case provided for by Article 1642-1, the action must be brought, on pain of foreclosure, within one year of the date on which the seller may be relieved of the defects or apparent lack of conformity.

L’action résultant des vices rédhibitoires doit être intentée par l’acquéreur dans un délai de deux ans à compter de la découverte du vice.

Dans le cas prévu par l’article 1642-1, l’action doit être introduite, à peine de forclusion, dans l’année qui suit la date à laquelle le vendeur peut être déchargé des vices ou des défauts de conformité apparents.
