Article 1656 of the French Civil Code

If it has been stipulated at the time of the sale of immovable property that, in the absence of payment of the price within the agreed term, the sale would be cancelled ipso jure, the purchaser may nevertheless pay after the expiry of the term, as long as he has not been put in default by a summons; but, after this summons, the judge may not grant him this term.

S’il a été stipulé lors de la vente d’immeubles que, faute du paiement du prix dans le terme convenu, la vente serait résolue de plein droit, l’acquéreur peut néanmoins payer après l’expiration du délai, tant qu’il n’a pas été mis en demeure par une sommation ; mais, après cette sommation, le juge ne peut pas lui accorder ce délai.
