Article 168 of the French Code of civil procedure

The judge shall give a ruling on the spot if the difficulty arises in the course of a transaction in which he is carrying out or assisting.

In all other cases, the judge seised without form shall fix the date for which the parties and, if applicable, the technician appointed will be summoned by the court registrar.

Le juge se prononce sur-le-champ si la difficulté survient au cours d’une opération à laquelle il procède ou assiste.

Dans les autres cas, le juge saisi sans forme fixe la date pour laquelle les parties et, s’il y a lieu, le technicien commis seront convoqués par le greffier de la juridiction.
