Article 1758 of the French Civil Code

The lease of a furnished flat is deemed to be made for the year, when it has been made for so much per year;

For the month, when it has been made for so much per month;

For the day, when it has been made for so much per day.

If there is no evidence that the lease is made for so much per year, month or day, the tenancy is deemed to be made according to the use of the premises.

Le bail d’un appartement meublé est censé fait à l’année, quand il a été fait à tant par an ;

Au mois, quand il a été fait à tant par mois ;

Au jour, quand il a été fait à tant par jour.

Si rien ne constate que le bail soit fait à tant par an, par mois ou par jour, la location est censée faite suivant l’usage des lieux.
