Article 1777 of the French Civil Code

The outgoing farmer must leave to him who succeeds him in cultivation, suitable lodgings and other facilities for the work of the following year; and conversely, the incoming farmer must provide to him who leaves suitable lodgings and other facilities for the consumption of fodder, and for the harvests remaining to be made.

In either case, one must conform to the use of the premises.

Le fermier sortant doit laisser à celui qui lui succède dans la culture, les logements convenables et autres facilités pour les travaux de l’année suivante ; et réciproquement, le fermier entrant doit procurer à celui qui sort les logements convenables et autres facilités pour la consommation des fourrages, et pour les récoltes restant à faire.

Dans l’un et l’autre cas, on doit se conformer à l’usage des lieux.
