Article 1810 of the French Civil Code

If the livestock perishes in its entirety through no fault of the lessee, the loss shall be for the lessor.

If only part of it perishes, the loss shall be borne jointly, according to the price of the original valuation and that of the valuation at the expiry of the livestock.

Si le cheptel périt en entier sans la faute du preneur, la perte en est pour le bailleur.

S’il n’en périt qu’une partie, la perte est supportée en commun, d’après le prix de l’estimation originaire et celui de l’estimation à l’expiration du cheptel.
