Article 191 of the French Civil Code

Any marriage which has not been contracted publicly, and which has not been celebrated before the competent public officer, may be contested, within a period of thirty years from its celebration, by the spouses themselves, by the father and mother, by the ascendants and by all those who have a born and present interest therein, as well as by the public prosecutor.

Tout mariage qui n’a point été contracté publiquement, et qui n’a point été célébré devant l’officier public compétent, peut être attaqué, dans un délai de trente ans à compter de sa célébration, par les époux eux-mêmes, par les père et mère, par les ascendants et par tous ceux qui y ont un intérêt né et actuel, ainsi que par le ministère public.
