Article 1944 of the French Civil Code

The deposit must be returned to the depositor as soon as he claims it, even if the contract has fixed a specific time limit for its return; unless there is, in the hands of the depositary, an attachment or opposition to the return and removal of the thing deposited.

Le dépôt doit être remis au déposant aussitôt qu’il le réclame, lors même que le contrat aurait fixé un délai déterminé pour la restitution ; à moins qu’il n’existe, entre les mains du dépositaire, une saisie ou une opposition à la restitution et au déplacement de la chose déposée.
