Article 1963 of the French Civil Code

Judicial sequestration is given either to a person agreed between the interested parties or to a person appointed ex officio by the judge.

In either case, the person to whom the thing has been entrusted is subject to all the obligations entailed by conventional sequestration.

Le séquestre judiciaire est donné, soit à une personne dont les parties intéressées sont convenues entre elles, soit à une personne nommée d’office par le juge.

Dans l’un et l’autre cas, celui auquel la chose a été confiée est soumis à toutes les obligations qu’emporte le séquestre conventionnel.
