The principal is bound to perform the commitments entered into by the agent, in accordance with the authority given to him.

He is only bound by what may have been done beyond that, insofar as he has ratified it expressly or tacitly.

Le mandant est tenu d’exécuter les engagements contractés par le mandataire, conformément au pouvoir qui lui a été donné.
