Article 221 of the French Civil Code

Each of the spouses may, without the consent of the other, have any deposit account and any securities account opened in his or her personal name.

With regard to the depositary, the depositor is always deemed, even after the dissolution of the marriage, to have free disposal of the funds and securities on deposit.

Chacun des époux peut se faire ouvrir, sans le consentement de l’autre, tout compte de dépôt et tout compte de titres en son nom personnel.

A l’égard du dépositaire, le déposant est toujours réputé, même après la dissolution du mariage, avoir la libre disposition des fonds et des titres en dépôt.
