Article 2465 of the French Civil Code

Any registered creditor may, within forty days of the notification made to him, request the sale of the immovable by public auction, provided that he outbids by one tenth on the stipulated price or on the declared value, and that he provides security to the due amount.

Tout créancier inscrit peut, dans les quarante jours suivant la notification qui lui a été faite, requérir la vente de l’immeuble aux enchères publiques, pourvu qu’il surenchérisse d’un dixième sur le prix stipulé ou sur la valeur déclarée, et qu’il fournisse caution à due concurrence.
