Article 311 of the French Civil Code

The law presumes that the child was conceived during the period extending from the three hundredth to the one hundred and eightieth day, inclusive, before the date of birth.

Conception is presumed to have taken place at any time during this period, according to what is required in the interest of the child.

Evidence to the contrary is admissible to rebut these presumptions.

La loi présume que l’enfant a été conçu pendant la période qui s’étend du trois centième au cent quatre-vingtième jour, inclusivement, avant la date de la naissance.

La conception est présumée avoir eu lieu à un moment quelconque de cette période, suivant ce qui est demandé dans l’intérêt de l’enfant.

La preuve contraire est recevable pour combattre ces présomptions.
