Article 312 of the French Code of civil procedure

If criminal proceedings are instituted against the perpetrators or accomplices of the forgery, the civil judgment shall be stayed until the criminal proceedings have been decided, unless the main case can be tried without taking into account the document alleged to be forged or there has been a waiver or settlement of the forgery.

Si des poursuites pénales sont engagées contre les auteurs ou complices du faux, il est sursis au jugement civil jusqu’à ce qu’il ait été statué au pénal, à moins que le principal puisse être jugé sans tenir compte de la pièce arguée de faux ou qu’il y ait eu, sur le faux, renonciation ou transaction.
