Article 32 of the French Civil Code

French nationals originating from the territory of the French Republic, as constituted on 28 July 1960, and who were domiciled on the day of its accession to independence in the territory of a State which had previously had the status of an overseas territory of the French Republic, have retained French nationality.

The same applies to the spouses, widows or widowers and descendants of the said persons.

Article 32

Les Français originaires du territoire de la République française, tel qu’il était constitué à la date du 28 juillet 1960, et qui étaient domiciliés au jour de son accession à l’indépendance sur le territoire d’un Etat qui avait eu antérieurement le statut de territoire d’outre-mer de la République française, ont conservé la nationalité française.

Il en est de même des conjoints, des veufs ou veuves et des descendants desdites personnes.
