Article 321-3 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

With regard to aid for the pre-production and production of immersive works, the total amount of aid granted for the same work may not:
1° Exceed 50% of the final cost of the work and, in the case of an international co-production, 50% of the French participation;
2° Have the effect of increasing the total amount of public financial aid to more than 50% of the final cost of production of the work and, in the case of an international co-production, more than 50% of the French participation.
Exceptions to the 50% threshold may be granted by the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, up to a limit of 80% and at the justified request of the production company, for difficult works. A difficult work is one that is innovative or not easily accessible, particularly in view of its subject matter, format, dramaturgy, direction or production conditions.

En ce qui concerne les aides à la préproduction et à la production d’œuvres immersives, le montant total des aides attribuées pour une même œuvre ne peut :
1° Etre supérieur à 50 % du coût définitif de l’œuvre et, en cas de coproduction internationale, à 50 % de la participation française ;
2° Avoir pour effet de porter à plus de 50 % du coût définitif de production de l’œuvre et, en cas de coproduction internationale, à plus de 50 % de la participation française, le montant total des aides financières publiques.
Des dérogations aux seuils de 50 % peuvent être accordées par le président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, dans la limite de 80% et sur demande motivée de l’entreprise de production, pour les œuvres difficiles. Une œuvre difficile est celle qui présente un caractère innovant ou peu accessible, en considération, notamment, du sujet, du format, de la dramaturgie, de la réalisation ou des conditions de production.
