Article 332 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

After each statement, the president may put questions to the witnesses.

The public prosecutor, as well as counsel for the accused and the civil party, the accused and the civil party have the same option, under the conditions determined in article 312.

When it seems necessary to the clarity and smooth running of the proceedings, the president may interrupt the statements of a witness or ask him questions directly without waiting for the end of his testimony.

Article 332

Après chaque déposition, le président peut poser des questions aux témoins.

Le ministère public, ainsi que les conseils de l’accusé et de la partie civile, l’accusé et la partie civile ont la même faculté, dans les conditions déterminées à l’article 312.

Lorsque cela lui paraît nécessaire à la clarté et au bon déroulement des débats, le président peut interrompre les déclarations d’un témoin ou lui poser directement des questions sans attendre la fin de sa déposition.
