Article 343-1 of the French Civil Code

Adoption may also be applied for by any person over the age of twenty-six.

If the adopter is married and not legally separated or bound by a civil solidarity pact, the consent of the other member of the couple is required unless the latter is unable to express his or her wishes.

L’adoption peut être aussi demandée par toute personne âgée de plus de vingt-six ans.

Si l’adoptant est marié et non séparé de corps ou lié par un pacte civil de solidarité, le consentement de l’autre membre du couple est nécessaire à moins que celui-ci ne soit dans l’impossibilité de manifester sa volonté.
