Article 345-2 of the French Civil Code

No one may be adopted by more than one person except by two spouses, two partners in a civil solidarity pact or two cohabitees.

However, a new simple or full adoption may be granted after the death of the adopter or both adopters, and a simple adoption may be granted to a child who has been the subject of a full adoption if there are serious grounds.

Nul ne peut être adopté par plusieurs personnes si ce n’est par deux époux, deux partenaires liés par un pacte civil de solidarité ou deux concubins.


Toutefois, une nouvelle adoption simple ou plénière peut être prononcée après le décès de l’adoptant ou des deux adoptants, et une adoption simple peut être prononcée au profit d’un enfant ayant fait l’objet d’une adoption plénière s’il existe des motifs graves.
