Article 373-2-5 of the French Civil Code

A parent who assumes primary responsibility for a child of full age who is unable to support himself or herself may ask the other parent to make a contribution to the child’s maintenance and education. The judge may decide, or the parents may agree, that all or part of this contribution is to be paid into the child’s hands.

Le parent qui assume à titre principal la charge d’un enfant majeur qui ne peut lui-même subvenir à ses besoins peut demander à l’autre parent de lui verser une contribution à son entretien et à son éducation. Le juge peut décider ou les parents convenir que cette contribution sera versée en tout ou partie entre les mains de l’enfant.
