Article 373 of the French Code of civil procedure

The proceedings may be resumed voluntarily in the manner provided for the presentation of the defence.

Failing voluntary resumption, it may be resumed by way of summons.

L’instance peut être volontairement reprise dans les formes prévues pour la présentation des moyens de défense.

A défaut de reprise volontaire, elle peut l’être par voie de citation.
