Article 420 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

When made before the hearing, the statement of civil party must specify the offence being prosecuted and contain an election of domicile within the jurisdiction of the court seised, unless the civil party is domiciled there.

It is immediately transmitted by the court clerk to the public prosecutor, who cites the civil party for the hearing.

Lorsqu’elle est faite avant l’audience, la déclaration de partie civile doit préciser l’infraction poursuivie et contenir élection de domicile dans le ressort du tribunal saisi, à moins que la partie civile n’y soit domiciliée.

Elle est immédiatement transmise par le greffier au ministère public qui cite la partie civile pour l’audience.
