Article 552 of the French Code of civil procedure

Where several parties are jointly and severally liable or indivisible, an appeal lodged by one of them retains the right of appeal of the others, unless the latter join the proceedings.

In the same cases, an appeal against one of the parties reserves to the appellant the right to call the others to the proceedings.

The court may order of its own motion the joinder of all the co-interested parties.

Article 552

En cas de solidarité ou d’indivisibilité à l’égard de plusieurs parties, l’appel formé par l’une conserve le droit d’appel des autres, sauf à ces dernières à se joindre à l’instance.

Dans les mêmes cas, l’appel dirigé contre l’une des parties réserve à l’appelant la faculté d’appeler les autres à l’instance.

La cour peut ordonner d’office la mise en cause de tous les co-intéressés.
