Article 555 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The bailiff must take all necessary steps to ensure that his writ is delivered to the addressee himself or, if the addressee is a legal person, to its legal representative, to an authorised representative of the latter or to any person authorised for that purpose; he shall give the addressee a copy thereof.

Where service is made on a legal person, the bailiff must, in addition and without delay, inform the legal person by simple letter of the service made, the name of the applicant and the identity of the person to whom the copy has been given.

L’huissier doit faire toutes diligences pour parvenir à la délivrance de son exploit à la personne même du destinataire ou, si le destinataire est une personne morale, à son représentant légal, à un fondé de pouvoir de ce dernier ou à toute personne habilitée à cet effet ; il lui en remet une copie.

Lorsque la signification est faite à une personne morale, l’huissier doit, en outre et sans délai, informer celle-ci par lettre simple de la signification effectuée, du nom du requérant ainsi que de l’identité de la personne à laquelle la copie a été remise.
