Article 59 of the French Code of civil procedure

The defendant must, on pain of being declared, even of his own motion, inadmissible in his defence, make known:

a) If he is a natural person, his surname, forenames, profession, domicile, nationality, date and place of birth;

b) If he is a legal person, its form, name, registered office and the body that represents it.

Le défendeur doit, à peine d’être déclaré, même d’office, irrecevable en sa défense, faire connaître :

a) S’il s’agit d’une personne physique, ses nom, prénoms, profession, domicile, nationalité, date et lieu de naissance ;

b) S’il s’agit d’une personne morale, sa forme, sa dénomination, son siège social et l’organe qui le représente.
