Article 608 of the French Code of civil procedure

Except in cases specified by law, other final judgments may not be appealed to the Court of Cassation independently of judgments on the merits. The appeal may be lodged by the plaintiff within the time limit for submission to the registry of the brief relating to the appeal against the judgment on the merits.

Hors les cas spécifiés par la loi, les autres jugements en dernier ressort ne peuvent être frappés de pourvoi en cassation indépendamment des jugements sur le fond. Le pourvoi peut être formé par le demandeur dans le délai de remise au greffe du mémoire afférent au pourvoi dirigé contre le jugement sur le fond.
