Article 63-4 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The lawyer appointed under the conditions provided for in Article 63-3-1 may communicate with the person in police custody under conditions that guarantee the confidentiality of the interview.

The duration of the interview may not exceed thirty minutes.

When police custody is extended, the person may, at his or her request, meet again with a lawyer as soon as the extension begins, under the conditions and for the duration provided for in the first two paragraphs.

L’avocat désigné dans les conditions prévues à l’article 63-3-1 peut communiquer avec la personne gardée à vue dans des conditions qui garantissent la confidentialité de l’entretien.

La durée de l’entretien ne peut excéder trente minutes.

Lorsque la garde à vue fait l’objet d’une prolongation, la personne peut, à sa demande, s’entretenir à nouveau avec un avocat dès le début de la prolongation, dans les conditions et pour la durée prévues aux deux premiers alinéas.
