Article 63-6 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Security measures designed to ensure that the person in police custody is not in possession of any object dangerous to himself or to others are defined by order of the competent ministerial authority. They may not consist of a full search.

During their hearing, persons in police custody are provided with the objects whose wearing or possession is necessary to respect their dignity.

This article shall also apply in the event of detention taking place pursuant to articles 141-4, 709-1-1,716-5 et 803-3.

Article 63-6

Les mesures de sécurité ayant pour objet de s’assurer que la personne gardée à vue ne détient aucun objet dangereux pour elle-même ou pour autrui sont définies par arrêté de l’autorité ministérielle compétente. Elles ne peuvent consister en une fouille intégrale.

La personne gardée à vue dispose, au cours de son audition, des objets dont le port ou la détention sont nécessaires au respect de sa dignité.

Le présent article est également applicable en cas de retenue intervenant en application des articles 141-4, 709-1-1,716-5 et 803-3.
