Article 652 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The Prime Minister and other members of the Government may appear as witnesses only after authorisation by the Council of Ministers, on the report of the Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice.

Such authorisation shall be given by decree.

The provisions of this article shall not apply to members of the Government heard as assisted witnesses.

Le Premier ministre et les autres membres du Gouvernement ne peuvent comparaître comme témoins qu’après autorisation du conseil des ministres, sur le rapport du garde des sceaux, ministre de la justice.

Cette autorisation est donnée par décret.

Les dispositions de cet article ne s’appliquent pas aux membres du Gouvernement entendus comme témoin assisté.
