Article 66 of the French Code of civil procedure

An intervention is an application the object of which is to make a third party a party to the proceedings between the original parties.

When the application emanates from the third party, the intervention is voluntary; the intervention is forced when the third party is impleaded by a party.

Constitue une intervention la demande dont l’objet est de rendre un tiers partie au procès engagé entre les parties originaires.

Lorsque la demande émane du tiers, l’intervention est volontaire ; l’intervention est forcée lorsque le tiers est mis en cause par une partie.
