Article 69 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

If the needs of the investigation so require, the Public Prosecutor or the Examining Magistrate, when proceeding as described in this chapter, may travel to the jurisdictions of the courts bordering the one in which he or she exercises his or her functions, in order to continue his or her investigations there. He must first notify the public prosecutor of the court to which he is travelling. He must state the reasons for his visit in his report.

Si les nécessités de l’enquête l’exigent, le procureur de la République ou le juge d’instruction lorsqu’il procède comme il est dit au présent chapitre peut se transporter dans les ressorts des tribunaux limitrophes de celui où il exerce ses fonctions, à l’effet d’y poursuivre ses investigations. Il doit aviser, au préalable, le procureur de la République du ressort du tribunal dans lequel il se transporte. Il mentionne sur son procès-verbal les motifs de son transport.
