Article 715 of the French Code of civil procedure

The appeal shall be lodged by delivering or sending to the registry of the court of appeal a note setting out the grounds for the appeal.

On pain of inadmissibility of the appeal, a copy of this note shall be sent simultaneously to all the parties to the main dispute.

Le recours est formé par la remise ou l’envoi au greffe de la cour d’appel d’une note exposant les motifs du recours.

A peine d’irrecevabilité du recours, copie de cette note est simultanément envoyée à toutes les parties au litige principal.
