Article 725-1 of the French Civil Code

Where two persons, one of whom was entitled to succeed the other, perish in the same event, the order of death shall be established by any means.

If this order cannot be determined, the succession of each shall devolve without the other being called.

However, if one of the co-deceased leaves descendants, the latter may represent their author in the succession of the other where representation is admitted.

Article 725-1

Lorsque deux personnes, dont l’une avait vocation à succéder à l’autre, périssent dans un même événement, l’ordre des décès est établi par tous moyens.

Si cet ordre ne peut être déterminé, la succession de chacune d’elles est dévolue sans que l’autre y soit appelée.

Toutefois, si l’un des codécédés laisse des descendants, ceux-ci peuvent représenter leur auteur dans la succession de l’autre lorsque la représentation est admise.
