Article 80 of the French Code of civil procedure

If the judge declares that he has jurisdiction, without ruling on the merits, the proceedings shall be suspended until the expiry of the time limit for lodging an appeal and, in the event of an appeal, until the Court of Appeal has given its decision.

Si le juge se déclare compétent, sans statuer sur le fond, l’instance est suspendue jusqu’à l’expiration du délai pour former appel et, en cas d’appel, jusqu’à ce que la cour d’appel ait rendu sa décision.
